I always appreciate a written outline like this that includes personal thoughts, questions, and interpretations. It brings it to life and a new light. I haven’t seen "Possession" myself, so that makes it a little bit harder for me to jump into any real debates or conversation about it, but when you write it out like this it always gets me a little antsy to watch it. In all honesty, I've never been much of a movie person (I hate even saying this because it sounds like a cop out or like a "thanks but no thanks" kind of thing... which it is not) but the way you talked about all the different possible meanings and events and how they connect to real life and some realistic and metaphoric ways is quite intriguing. Well done 👏
Watched this finally last year and haven’t stopped thinking about since lol. An absolute and maybe impenetrable masterpiece. I think this is my favorite essay so far of yours, HH!
Love isn’t always beautiful—it’s grotesque, convulsive, and sometimes sprouts tentacles. Possession doesn’t ask for understanding. It dares you to feel everything.

Thank you. I have a new one coming out on Friday the 13th
Nice! Looking forward to it.
I love your post and I blame you for increasing in one my never-ending watchlist on letterboxd.
I love this film. My partner and I caught it on the big screen back in 2013. We sat up close and had our nerves shattered. So, so good.
That’s awesome
I read it the opposite, as the creature representing her deeper or subconscious desires. I love your take, the different perspective makes more sense.
Movies are just like art we all interpret them differently and no one interpretation is wrong. Great take
